Shelbyville-based Knauf Insulation has named Mark Andrews to the new position of chief executive officer of its North American operations. Knauf says Andrews will help the company prepare for increased demand expected to be created by new energy and climate change legislation. Andrews has led the company's operation in the United Kingdom and Europe for the past six years.

(SHELBYVILLE, Ind., January 18, 2010)—Knauf Insulation has announced the appointment of Mark Andrews to the new position of CEO of its North American operations to better align the company for anticipated market transformation and increased demand driven in part by new energy and climate change legislation pending in Congress. Mark has headed-up Knauf Insulation operations in the UK and northern Europe for the past 6 years; and has been responsible for positioning Knauf as the leading insulation supplier in the UK market while it transitioned through carbon emission reduction legislation similar to what may be anticipated in the U.S. The UK was one of the first major markets to address energy efficiency and climate change, and Mark’s experience will be invaluable as North American markets are also shaped by legislative actions that reinforce the message that it is time to save energy.

The new North American CEO position will report directly to Tony Robson, Group CEO for Knauf Insulation global operations; and be headquartered in Shelbyville. Mark and his family will relocate to Indiana in the near future.

Bob Claxton has been named Senior Vice-President of Finance and Administration of North American operations reporting to Mark. In his new role, Bob will have full CFO responsibilities to provide financial and legal guidance to the company. Warren Wise will move to the role of Finance Director, reporting to Bob.

In making the announcement, Tony Robson noted that this is a pivotal moment for the insulation industry in North America, with several major factors that could greatly expand the demand for our products over the next several years. “Globally, we consider ourselves ‘One Knauf’, a single company that has expertise all around the globe we can build upon. That’s one of our greatest strengths,” said Bob. “Mark’s unique first-hand experience with these market conditions and his excellent leadership skills make him the perfect fit to bring solutions to our customers as they face the challenges that greater energy efficiency standards and pending legislation will bring here in America.”

Mark Andrews echoes Bob’s comments about the Knauf philosophy of sharing best practice and putting the right combination of experience in place in the pursuit of market leadership. “Obviously, I’m thrilled with the market opportunity here in America; but I’m equally thrilled with the opportunity to work with Bob, Warren and all the other team members to capitalize on the market opportunities ahead. We have a fantastic team here, with considerable leadership strength that has driven Knauf growth in North America for over 30 years, and I look forward to what we can accomplish together going forward.”

Mark also points to the organizational change as demonstrating the highest possible commitment to the North American market and continuing support of local communities where Knauf facilities are located. Mark summed it up by saying, “We all recognize and are grateful for the wonderful relationships that exist between our company and the communities where we all live and work. As we address the future market conditions, I look forward to building on that rich history”.
