Chemicals & Polymers

che

West Virginia is one of the leading locations in North America for chemical companies. Firms like Bayer (CropScience and MaterialScience), Braskem, Dow Chemical, DuPont, M&G Polymers, Momentive Performance Materials, and Sabic Innovative Plastics are among the companies making West Virginia one of the most profitable environments for the chemical industry. Nearly 13,000 West Virginians are directly employed by the industry, making up 26.2% of the state's manufacturing workforce. The general public, legislators, and industry peers know that the chemical industry in West Virginia is a leader in the Responsible Care initiative, and that its efforts in community relations, employee safety and health, and environmental protection are models to others in the industry.

Chemical Alliance Zone

To further the development of the industry in state, the Chemical Alliance Zone (CAZ) exists as a ChemAllnon-profit public/private partnership to promote new investment in shared facilities and to further the chemical industry in Cabell, Putnam, Wayne, and Kanawha Counties. The CAZ is centered in the eastern United States and perfect for expansion, with 18 major metropolitan areas within 500 miles of the Zone. The Zone also has available infrastructure, transportation networks and suppliers to support the chemical industry and reduce operating costs. This infrastructure, along with a trained workforce and accepting communities, makes the Chemical Alliance Zone an excellent place to do business.

Polymer Alliance Zone

The Polymer Alliance Zone, Inc. (PAZ) was formed in 1996 as a pilot project of the state of West polallVirginia. PAZ has one of the highest concentrations of high technology, specialty, and engineering polymers production in the world.

The Polymer Alliance Zone is a membership organization which includes both polymer and related industries. Collaborative efforts of the stakeholders in the Polymer Alliance Zone are aimed at expanding the industrial base in Jackson, Mason, and Wood counties by adding multiple value to polymer businesses and related service companies that will provide increased quality job opportunities for West Virginians.
