South Carolina has about 100 aviation-related companies. Aerospace companies are widely distributed throughout the state and include Lockheed Martin, Champion Aerospace, Eaton, GE, Honeywell, Michelin Aircraft Tire and SKF.  

Notably, Vought Aircraft Industries and Alenia Aeronautica have partnered to build a majority of the fuselage for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in South Carolina. Their joint venture, Global Aeronautica, joins, integrates, tests and applies surface finishes to more than 60 percent of the Dreamliner fuselage.
